PRODUCTS LIABILITY
The exposure of companies to lawsuits alleging manufacturing and design defects, inadequate warnings, and similar claims has become a part of doing business in the United States. The potentially devastating effect of such litigation, both financially and as to the company’s and its products’ reputation, cannot be overstated.
Gladstone Michel attorneys recognize that there is often more at stake in a products liability case than simply money. We understand that our manufacturing clients are committed to defending the integrity of their products, and that they expect no less of a commitment from their attorneys. Gladstone Michel has a proven track record of successfully defending such cases, which is reflected by our representation of a diverse clientele in such varied industries as aircraft and aviation-related component part manufacturers, medical devices, elevator manufacturers, and power plant equipment.
Our products liability practice includes representing our clients in litigation involving both high exposure personal injuries and complex commercial disputes. Our success has been based on a combination of our understanding of the law relating to these issues, our ongoing relationships with the leading experts in our clients’ specific industries as well as in human factors and industrial safety generally, and our ability to handle such cases through trial and appeal when necessary.
Some of our attorneys’ recent representations have included the following:
- The defense of the manufacturer of an accelerometer used in the Army’s Apache attack helicopter in a case involving catastrophic injuries sustained by two U.S. servicemen in Iraq.
- The defense of an elevator manufacturer in connection with lawsuits alleging failures of various component parts.
- The defense of a Dutch manufacturer of large generators in connection with a California purchaser’s claims relating to a high-voltage generator.
- The defense of a German aircraft manufacturer with respect to the design of its airstairs.
